Testing and publishing

Both tools sit at the bottom of the bot editor. Both save your unsaved edits first, so what you hear and read is what is on screen.

  1. Scroll to Preview what the bot is told.
  2. Enter Their first name and Their state, for example Dana and TX.
  3. Tick Must say it is an AI at the start and Must ask permission to record to see the strict opening.
  4. Press Show what the bot is told.

You see warnings, then “It opens with” followed by the exact opening line, then the full instructions in sections. The honesty rules are marked Always on. Warnings appear when your opening misses a required part, for example an AI disclosure without {ai_clause}. The tools the bot can use are listed at the end.

  1. Scroll to Talk to this bot and press Talk to and the bot’s name.
  2. Allow the microphone when the browser asks.
  3. The bot speaks first. Answer as a caller would.
  4. Use Mute me if needed and End conversation to stop.

Beside the transcript, Written down shows the details the bot captured and What the bot did shows its actions, such as booking a callback.

The playground is a rehearsal. Nothing reaches a real person, the details go to a throwaway record, nothing is saved to a campaign, and no events are sent. It needs the AI to be connected. If it is not, you see “Talking to a bot is not switched on here yet” (the service answers 503). Your bot is saved either way.

  1. Press Publish in the top bar.
  2. Read the box: “Publish version N?” It lists the campaigns that use this bot and marks any “running now”.
  3. Press Publish it. The message says “Version N is live”.

From the next call on, every call this bot makes uses this version. The version can no longer be edited. Publishing makes it live in one step; there is no separate “set live”.

The screen has no button on a published version except Copy to a new draft.

  1. Pick the earlier version in Versions. It says “Published earlier”.
  2. Press Copy to a new draft, then Publish that draft.

The copy becomes a new, higher version number with the old content. If a platform operator suspended a version, copying it into a new draft is also how you replace it.

A platform operator can suspend one published version, for example when the scan in honesty rules flags it. You do not suspend versions yourself. A suspended version:

  • cannot be used for calls. The message is “bot version is suspended by the platform: ”.
  • makes the campaign check report a problem on every step that uses it.
  • stays suspended after you publish or set it live again. Calls already up carry on.
  • is refused in the playground (409) with the same message.

See bot governance for the operator side.
