Do-not-call lists

A number on a do-not-call list is never dialed. The check cannot be skipped, not even for a callback.

List Whose it is Reason shown
Your own list Yours On your own do-not-call list
Federal The platform loads it On the federal do-not-call list
State The platform loads it, one per state On a state do-not-call list
Litigator The platform loads it A known litigator number
Trap numbers You or the platform A trap number

Trap numbers (also called canary or honeypot numbers) are planted on purpose. Any call that reaches one is blocked and logged. The Safety overview shows “Trap number hit” if someone tried one in the last day. How the platform loads the shared lists is on global compliance data.

To add a number:

  1. Open Safety, then Do-not-call.
  2. Under Add a number, type the phone number and an optional note.
  3. Select Add to the list, then confirm.

To import a file:

  1. Under Import a list, drop a CSV file.
  2. Select Import these numbers, then confirm.
  3. Read the result: how many were added, already listed, or could not be read.

To take a number off:

  1. Look it up under Is this number on a list?
  2. Select Take off the list.
  3. Type why. Your name and the reason go into the audit trail.
  • Who can add: any staff role. Adding only makes calling stricter.
  • Who can remove: owner, admin and compliance. A removal always needs a reason. You cannot remove entries from the shared federal, state or litigator lists.
  • Trap numbers in the screen: owner, admin and compliance.
  • Import: one phone number per row, or a column named phone. The limit is 50 MB. Repeats are skipped.
  • Export: Export as CSV, under Recent additions. It shows only the first characters of each number’s fingerprint, never the number.

Numbers are stored only as fingerprints (hashes). VoDialer cannot show you a number it has stored, only the first characters of its hash.

  • When a bot or an agent saves a result that means “asked to stop”, the number reaches your list within about a second. If the safety service is busy or down, the request is retried until it is accepted. It is never dropped.
  • A callback request that says to stop, such as “stop calling” or “take me off”, is not scheduled. The person goes on the list instead. The phrase list is broad on purpose and has not been reviewed by counsel.
  • A number on a list is never retried on a timer. The person is closed out as do-not-call.
